Outlook is no doubt a great email application, but sometimes, one can experience problems with it. In this article, we discuss an error ‘0x8004010F’ that is normally seen when sending or receiving emails.
Why does the ‘0x8004010f’ error occur? The main reasons for this error are corruption in Outlook profile or corruption in PST files.
Now that we know when and why the occur occurs, let’s move on to the solutions to resolve the error.
Solution 1: Create a new profile
Step 1: Make note of the data file
- Open Outlook and click on File > Info tab
- Then select Account Settings > Account Settings
- Click on Data files
Here note down the name and location of your PST data file.
Step 2: Create a new Outlook profile
There are 2 methods to do this, one is the automated profile creation and the second one is a manual method.
Option 1: Using automated profile set up
- Click on the Start button and search for Control Panel
- Open Control Panel and search for Mail
- In the Mail setup box, click on Show Profiles
- In the General tab, click on Add and in the new account set up a box, enter all the required details and click Next
Option 2: Manual profile creation
- Using the same method as above (in Option 1), open the Mail setup box
- Click on Show Profiles and in the General tab, click on Add
- In the New Profile set up the box, enter the required information and click Ok
- In the Add New account setup box, click on Manually configure server settings or additional server types
- Under Choose Service, select Internet Email and enter your account details in the account setup box
- Choose Test Account settings to test your account
- Click on Existing Outlook data file and choose your data file as noted in Step 1
- Then close all the dialogue boxes to complete setting up your new account
Step 3: Make your Outlook profile as the default
Once you are done, a new account is created which you can use as your default profile. To make the new profile as your default profile, follow the steps below
- Again open Mail from the Control Panel
- In the General tab, choose Always use this profile
- In the drop-down menu for Always use this profile, select the new profile you just created
- Then close the Mail dialogue box
Solution 2: Use Remo PST repair software
